What Do You Do When You Feel Wack? (Vibe With My Tribe)

First of all, if you’re one of those ‘good vibes only’ people, this article is TOTALLY not for you. Life is full of a spectrum of emotions and it’s our job to regulate them. That mindset is not only mad irresponsible, but emotionally dangerous.

When I feel like I’m getting sad, I read who God says I am and what God says about me. I especially like the one that says, “I am God’s masterpiece’! It helps me remember that I have power, love and a sound mind.

My mom is full of random Bible facts, so when I asked her this question, it's no surprise that she sent me this. Bottom line, you gotta go to God, my G. Whatever it is that's on your heart, He already knows anyway.  He's just waiting on you to own it.

It depends on why I feel wack. Aside from smoking, I try to recollect and calm myself. I ask myself why I’m feeling this way and go from there. Eating a good meal is helpful, sometimes it’s the little ‘me time’ things that can remind you that you got the sauce. Sometimes it’s chill time with my friends, sometimes I meditate and take a bath, sometimes I dance and try to feel good.

Other times, I do my makeup and hair while listening to music that reminds me that I’m not wack, I have things I can build upon and that I’m cute AF. It’s usually throwbacks from bad ass women.

I do a number of things, sometimes I just talk it out, I might even treat myself to a nice dinner or go out and have fun with friends.

Other times, I stay to myself and listen to music - staying away from sad ass music though, or you WILL be in your feelings. I’ll also read like, a really, really good book, like Emotional Intelligence or The Alchemist. Books like that.

Oh, and read my bible. And pray. Duh.

I write. I literally sit down in the dark, put on some good music and just write out everything that I’m feeling. I always listen to a song that puts me in my feelings, like “Shelter” by Birdy. Something that really gets my emotions out. I’ll also pray, and just have a conversation with God and that always puts me back into place.

I change up my hairstyle and switch up my wellness routine by working out more frequently and eating mainly a plant based diet to reset my body.

Then I cry. And pray. And shop. And boss up.

Oh, and read a lot. That’s important.
